Green bonds and carbon emissions

Purpose: The growing popularity of green bonds has sparked an ongoing debate about their real impact on the environment. idea behind is that they provide environmental benefits, such as a reduction in carbon emissions, by financing environmentally friendly projects. aim this paper to examine relationship between bond issuance and CO2 emissions EU-27 from 2013 2017 determine validity theory. Methodology: Data Eurobonds issued were collected using Refinitiv Eikon database. Descriptive statistics linear correlation used investigate association per capita EU-27. Results: study found while increased dramatically, EUR 5 billion 75 2017, there was only small decrease total 3.7% 4.6%, respectively. Moreover, no significant them. Conclusions: results suggest increase indicates trend toward more sustainable investments, it does not necessarily lead proportional emissions. Therefore, further research needed better understand identify underlying factors may influence relationship.
